The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) in Mpumalanga is currently visiting the Fernie two Community Hall in Mpuluzi to render services to the community.

SASSA will likely be rendering services for instance new social grant applications, change of payment method, consumer treatment enquiries, along with the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) COVID-19 grant enquiries.

In a press release, the agency mentioned it is alarmed concerning the significant quantity of people depending on social grants for survival.
“The goal with the Integrated Registration Outreach Programme [ICROP] is to reach-out to some high amount of clients/beneficiaries to access SASSA services.

“This is certainly a result of the lack of infrastructure at Fernie and there's no thoroughly functional office devoted to service the area on a daily basis. The service issue made for intervention encounters a superior influx of probable beneficiaries, that makes it tricky to SRD the office to attend to all people who visit a service point.

“In this reach-out programme, SASSA will mobilise extra resources to help the servicing of all prospects and improve use of Social Assistance services,” the agency said.
